Mystery and Crime

The Boy in the Suitcase by Lene Kaaberbøl and Agnete Friis is another Scandinavian novel that is a thriller from the very first page.

Nina is given a key to a train station locker by her friend Karen who tells Nina not to open the suitcase inside the locker until she is well away from the train station. Inside the suitcase is a three year old boy, drugged but alive.

What is the history of the boy? How did he end up in the suitcase? Is this a case of child trafficking? When Nina returns to the train station Nina sees a violent incident when a man opens the same locker and finds it empty. Somebody else desperately wanted to retrieve the suitcase, and the boy, but why?

When Nina’s friend Karen is found murdered Nina realises the boys life, and possibly her own, is in danger.

It’s a great story with a great ending. You will be surprised when you open this book and find out who the boy in the suitcase actually turns out to be.
