Writing Sydney is a new series of illustrated talks in which Walter Mason talks to writers about the parts of Sydney that have inspired them and how our city and their experience of it has influenced their work.
In May, Walter talks to crime writer P.M. Newton whose popular Detective Nhu “Ned” Kelly novels, The Old School and Beams Falling, give a gritty portrait of Sydney’s recent past and an utterly authentic insight into the way both cops and criminals work. Her novels are set in some well known locations in Sydney, as well as some that are perhaps only known to locals.
