Tom Keneally Anniversary Lecture

Tom Keneally joins us for the one year anniversary of the launch of the Tom Keneally Centre, talking about his writing, his research and his life.

One of Australia’s best known writers, Tom’s works – be they fiction or non-fiction – are immaculately researched and evocative. A true ‘renaissance man’, his broad-ranging interests and social concerns are evident in his writing.

Most recently, his novel Daughters of Mars relates the tale of Naomi and Sally Durance, sisters who answer a call for nurses to join the war effort, taking them to Gallipoli and to the battlefields of Europe.

His ambitious and wide-ranging history, Australians: Origins to Eureka (Volume One) and Australians: Eureka to the Diggers (Volume Two) traces the people who have formed our national story.  Tom is currently writing Volume Three, which extends into the present era.

Tom’s current research delves into the Japanese outbreak at Cowra in 1944 for a novel he is in the final stages of writing.
