Taronga — An Evolution

Discover Taronga’s journey from a place of entertainment and wonder to a conservation hub investigating and implementing strategies to protect wildlife and wildlife habitat.

The Taronga you see when you visit the zoo is just the tip of the iceberg — it is a global centre of conservation excellence and a unique place where people and wildlife come together.

With over a centenary of history, Taronga has evolved, growing from its original charter to protect, preserve and share the wonder of the wildlife in its care, not just to helping wildlife survive, but to ensure it thrives.

The Taronga Institute of Science and Learning is due to open later this year. The Institute will function as a progressive hub and living laboratory for conservation, education and science — empowering new generations to solve wildlife problems together.

Join representatives from the Taronga Conservation Society to reflect on Taronga’s history and learn what the organisation has planned for their next 100 years and beyond.
