About the Event

Chasing yield and receiving risk

Low interest rates have made chasing dividend yield look sensible and, of course, there has been a ready band of commissioned ‘helpers’ to assist. But a major risk lurks just around the corner.  Even more importantly, there is a strategy that can yield higher income.  Roger Montgomery will describe the market forces driving your current yield, and stir the hornets’ nest by challenging the current level hostility towards companies not paying a high yield.

Roger Montgomery is a renowned value investor with more than 22 years experience. Following a successful career as an analyst and public company chairman, Roger published the First Edition of his stock market guide,, in 2010, becoming an Australian best seller in just 16 weeks. He is an awarded presenter on the subject of investing and appears fortnightly on the ABC’s The Business program as well as Sky Business and ABC radio, and writes regular commentary for major financial publications and newspapers.

After the presentation the group discusses branch issues and meets informally over coffee, for which there is a $2pp charge. The Forum offers the opportunity to discuss your portfolio and current investment ideas with other members. This meeting is led by convenor John Upton.
