Why class actions work for shareholders

We are very pleased to have Andrew Watson from Maurice Blackburn presenting at our June Investor Forum.

Investors have increasingly been drawn to participating in Australian shareholder class actions over the past two decades. Yet there is still much uncertainty around how they work and many questions from shareholders unsure about recovering their money via the class action process. Andrew Watson is the nation’s leading class action plaintiff lawyer, and he will unpack how a class action works for retail investors.

With more than 20 years’ experience in litigation, Andrew has overseen the nation’s biggest class action cases, including the unfair bank fees class action against the ANZ bank and seven others lenders. His practice has delivered the five highest shareholder class action recoveries in the country – all in excess of $100 million.

After the presentation the group discusses branch issues and meets informally over coffee, for which there is a $2pp charge. The Forum offers the opportunity to discuss your portfolio and current investment ideas with other members. This meeting is led by convenor John Upton.
