After Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton, the silent film era’s “third genius” was Harold Lloyd, who stars in this story of an average country boy trying to make good in the big city. Leaving his sweetheart (Mildred Davis) at home in the country, the Boy pursues his fortune in a teeming metropolis — and antics ensue.
Safety Last! includes one of the most famous images from the silent film era: Lloyd clutching the hands of a large clock as he dangles from the outside of a skyscraper above moving traffic.
