Christmas has always inspired the poets. And so we invite you to celebrate the season with the Poetry at SMSA group.
Sometimes poets have parodied the season like Shakespeare does in Heigh Ho, The Holly. Sometimes they intensify a child’s anticipation of Santa’s visit as in The Night Before Christmas. And, of course, many poets examine the more spiritual aspects of the day as Christina Rossetti does in A Christmas Carol.
Come along to hear the Poetry at SMSA group give a special reading of Christmas and Christmas-time poems – from old favourites to some you may not have heard before. And perhaps they may even be persuaded to read some of their original poetry!
