Members’ Tour — 2016 Archibald Prize Exhibition

Members are invited to join us at the Art Gallery of NSW for a private guided tour of the 2016 Archibald Prize exhibition at the Art Gallery of NSW, followed by a delicious morning tea.

The Archibald Prize is regarded as Australia’s most important portrait prize, awarded to paintings “‘preferentially of some man or woman distinguished in art, letters, science or politics, painted by any artist resident in Australasia“. Previous winners include William Dobell, Brett Whiteley, Del Kathryn Barton and Ben Quilty. It is one of Sydney’s most popular public art events, drawing thousands of visitors to the Art Gallery of NSW every year.

We will meet outside the main Gallery entrance on Art Gallery Road, The Domain. We will conclude our tour at the Pavillion Cafe, next door to the Gardens in The Domain, where members will be treated to a delicious cup of tea or coffee and some freshly baked muffins.
