Announcing the retirement of Erini Fardouly & Cecile Cornford
It is with mixed feelings that we announce the retirement of Erini Fardouly and Cecile Cornford, each of whom have independently reached their decision to leave SMSA and commence their next stage in life.
Together, and individually, Cecile and Erini have formed the heart of the library for many years, offering members welcoming chit chat and spot-on book recommendations.
Erini has worked at SMSA for 14 years. A voracious reader, Erini can always be relied upon to recommend a thrilling mystery or the latest biography of a strong and interesting woman. For many years, Erini has been responsible for creating the Library Limelight, listing new additions to the library collection and providing summaries of highlighted books.
Erini is leaving us first, with her last day on Friday 4th July.
Cecile first started at SMSA in 16 years ago. Cecile’s knowledge of the SMSA’s collection is outstanding; and how could it not be since she has ordered and catalogued most of the new books that are added each month. If Cecile recommends a book, you know its going to be good.
Cecile’s last day will not be until Friday 8th August.
Wayne McIntyre, who has been our Saturday Librarian, has moved into the Library full time and has spent extensive time with both Erini and Cecile in training. He will be joined in the next few weeks by part-timers Kathy Sale and Venettia Miller. Derek Hornsey will take over on Saturdays. We have confidence that the library is in good hands, and will continue to provide the welcoming, chatty service you know and love.
Both board and staff are united with our members in being saddened at the end of an era. We will miss Erini and Cecile sincerley and deeply as valued employees, colleagues and friends, and we all wish them both the very best for the future.
Please join us on Friday 4th July from 2:00-4:00pm to give our beloved librarians a send off they will never forget.
