Billy Wilder’s Some Like It Hot

Classic Film Night

After witnessing a mob massacre in Chicago, musicians Joe (Tony Curtis) and Jerry (Jack Lemmon) disguise themselves as women and join an all-female band. Things get even more complicated when Joe poses as a millionaire to court singer, Sugar Kane (Marilyn Monroe) while Jerry’s alter ego Daphne is wooed by a real millionaire, Osgood.

After Osgood proposes to Daphne, the men realise that the ruse is up and decide to leave the band. Meanwhile, the mobsters from the massacre turn up at the hotel for a convention of “Friends of Italian Opera” and Joe and Jerry once again have to run for their lives.

Regarded as one of Billy Wilder’s best films, Some Like it Hot was >the all-time highest-grossing comedy up to its time.
