Ashley Hay — A Hundred Small Lessons (In Conversation with Tom Keneally)

We are pleased to welcome award-winning author Ashley Hay to the Tom Keneally Centre to discuss her latest novel, A Hundred Small Lessons, hosted in conversation with Tom Keneally.

A Hundred Small Lessons follows to the story of two women, two mothers, and the weatherboard Brisbane house they have both called home at different times.

Elsie Gormley, an 80 year old widow, who had lived in the house for 60 years, from the time it was built and leaves it reluctantly. And Lucy Kiss, who moves into the home after Elsie to start her brand new life, in a new city, with her husband and new baby.

As the story unfolds, it seems the house has a life – and secrets – of it’s own, and the women find that time and place and memory are fluid things.
