During the past few weeks I have been phoning as many of you as possible, checking to see how you are doing during lockdown. It has been lovely to catch up with members I know and wonderful to meet and chat with members I rarely see or have never met.
It has been a very difficult time for some, not so difficult for others within the Sydney Mechanics’ School of Arts community and beyond.
As COVID has affected so many of us, the Board wanted to make your life a little bit easier to be part of the SMSA family. For the 2022 membership year, the Board has decided to waive the renewal fees.
Ray Seeto has now taken over as Secretary of the SMSA. The Board is very excited to have Ray join us, as his experience and knowledge will be a great asset for the School. Ray has exciting ideas to enhance our member experience at the SMSA and to increase engagement with the wider community to build a vibrant, inclusive and welcoming cultural centre in the CBD.
Reflecting on these challenging times, with vaccinations rising every day, I can see the “light at the end of the tunnel” from our COVID lockdown. This brings hope that we can open the SMSA soon and for the resumption of fabulous events we have planned for 2022 and beyond.
If I haven’t spoken to you yet, I hope to do so in the coming weeks.
Please feel free to phone me, whether just to say hello or for a chat. The staff will provide my contact number / email.
Take care and keep safe
