Library Update
According to yesterday’s (20 May 2020) Sydney Morning Herald, NSW will be allowing public libraries to open from 1 June 2020 as long as they follow strict social distancing rules.
As the SMSA Library is not a public library, and because a large number of our members are in high risk categories, we will NOT be opening from this date.
Instead, the SMSA Library will continue to operate our Click & Collect service at the hours shown below until further notice.
Library Hours for Click & Collect
Monday 10:00am-1:00pm
Wednesday 10:00am-1:00pm
Friday 10:00am-1:00pm
There is also a box available to return items.
The guidelines for Click & Collect can be found in the link below.
Click & Collect Guidelines
We fully appreciate that the SMSA is missed by all, and that our Library and other services are of great importance to our members — as a social place as much as for borrowing books. However, right now, we believe that it is safer for all of us, members and staff alike, to take it slow and stick to the Click & Collect system.
We will be opening up the library again when the risk is lower and we feel it will be safer. When we do re-open, it might involve safety measures like restricted times and limited numbers of people. We all look forward to things returning to some sort of normal soon.
In the meantime, please be patient and use our online services, like Click & Collect, our ebooks and audiobooks, Beamafilm and emagazines which are all available to you free — and you can also keep contact with other members via our Zoom talks and events or in our SMSA Community Chat group on Facebook.
If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact us by email to library@smsa.org.au
Stay safe and well!
