Sydney Mechanics’ School of Arts will be celebrating the 185th Anniversary of our founding this year in March.
We will be hosting two special members’ events to mark the occasion, and I do hope you will join us.
Firstly, on Wednesday, 21 March, there will be a bus trip in honour of the Reverend Henry Carmichael, one of SMSA’s founders. And on Thursday, 22 March, we will be hosting a celebration dinner at the Arthouse Hotel (our original building).
Both of these events will be free to eligible members.
Full details of both events can be found below.
You will need to register your interest in attending using the online form and let us know which event you would prefer to attend.
We anticipate interest in both these events will be high, and spaces at both events are, unfortunately, limited. So to be fair to everyone, only members who joined before 22 March 2017 are eligible to register, and we will be conducting a ballot (i.e. random draw) to allocate tickets to each event.
You can read more about how the ballot will operate in ‘the fine print’ below.

If a member’s spouse or partner is also an eligible member, he or she must register for the ballot separately, and will be treated separately in the ballot.
Registration of interest will not guarantee a ticket to either event.

In order to be fair to all members, attendees for each event will be determined via ballot (ie: drawn at random). Tickets will be allocated to members in the order they are drawn, taking into account the members’ stated preference.
In the event of a ballot being held, the allocation of tickets will be final and no further discussion will be entered into.
The ballot will be drawn on Friday, 2 March and successful members advised ASAP afterwards.
Successful members in the ballot will be allocated either
We ask that if members are no longer able to attend, they contact the SMSA ASAP so that we can re-allocate the ticket/s.
