AMISA launches new website with its WWI Memorials Project

In 2014, the Board of the Sydney Mechanics’ School of Arts awarded the (Association of Mechanics’ Institutes and Schools of Arts (AMISA) a $1000 grant towards the construction of a website.

AMISA have recently announced the official launch of the website containing resources for — and historical information on — Schools of Arts and Mechanics’ Institutes in NSW.

AMISA’s management committee, led by Dr Roger Morris, AM as President, have extended their sincere thanks to the SMSA for its generous support of the website production.

In tandem with the website launch, AMISA have released the results of this year’s major research project to commemorate the centenary of the Gallipoli landing: a collection of images and stories of the World War I Memorials and Rolls of Honour that were erected in Schools of Arts and Mechanics’ Institutes as a tribute to those who served.

Visit the AMISA website at http://amisa.org.au to view images of and to explore the stories of 25 WWI Memorials, which are associated with NSW Schools of Arts or Mechanics’ Institutes.
