How it works

To be eligible to borrow an iPad Mini from Sydney Mechanics’ School of Arts, members must:

Be a member in good standing, with no overdue books.
Be an eligible member type. (NB: Readers and WEA members are not eligible to borrow iPads.)
Have been an SMSA member for 12 months or more (i.e. over 365 days), with no break in membership.
Verify their address, email and contact phone number with the library. This may involve an ID check.
Have NO outstanding iPad Replacement Cost fines.
Sign an iPad Lending Agreement.

Only one iPad Mini may be borrowed by a member at any one time, regardless of the number of subscriptions held.

The loan period for the iPad Mini is 21 days and members may renew the iPad Mini once unless a reserve (hold) has been placed.

Members must return the iPad Mini in person to a staff member on or before the due date. (i.e. the iPad must not be placed in the Returns chute or left on the counter)

The iPad and accessories must be returned in same condition in which they were loaned. A checklist of contents is in the box.

Staff will go through an iPad Return Checklist with the member upon the return of the iPad to ensure that the device is undamaged and in good working order, and that all accessories are in the box. This could take several minutes.

If the iPad or any accessories are lost, stolen, not returned or damaged, the member must pay the replacement cost within seven (7) days and is not eligible to borrow an iPad until this amount has been paid.

iPad Mini 16GB with WIFI	$349.00 + processing charge
iPad case	$ 40.00 + processing charge
Lightning to USB cable	$ 25.00 + processing charge
Apple USB Power Adaptor	$ 25.00 + processing charge
Processing Charge	$ 15.00

SMSA is now offering iPads Minis for loan from the Library on a trial basis.

The iPad Minis have 16G capacity and WIFI (no mobile data), and are available for 21 day loans

Members can:

Use the iPads to borrow and read eBooks, Audiobooks and eMagazines from SMSA,
Explore a range of useful apps,
Play addictive games like Angry Birds, Monument and many more.

As there are a limited number of iPads available, we ask that members understand that there may be a waiting period. (NB: iPads may be reserved in the Library catalogue.)
